Ashley + Jovan Engagement

I'm so excited for these guys to get married!  Ashley... is a planner. I get that from the countdown to their wedding on Facebook started somewhere in the 450 day range!  Jovan is family and coupled with Ashley's planning for their special day has my wedding excitement on overload.

We brought them from the "Land of Lincoln" to the good ole "land of Cheeseheads". We left the house and started our adventure on some backroads close to our home. We made small talk and caught up a bit before we headed out into a meadow adjacent to an old farmstead. We found the light and started to make magic one photo at a time.

Ashley was certain that she could not be "natural" when having her photo taken and given her "planner" personality the nature of our shoot threw her for a loop.  Jovan on the other hand was cool as a cucumber ready to go with the flow. I caught myself several times just chuckling at the way they interact with one another. Ashley, out of her element and worried about every thing and Jovan calming her with his short, very "matter of fact" directions.  "Don't worry about it" , "just do it", "it's fine".  Although Jovan's encouragement was short in to the point its calming affect on Ashley was some thing you couldn't help but notice.  I'm 100% confident that marriage at the very least will be fun for these two. One of the most import things if you ask me.

In spite of her worry Ashley is a natural.  I love the emotion that we captured in their photos. Their love for each other permeates from each frame.  Shoot,  it even had me revisit Ashley's Facebook countdown to see how much time we have left until the big day.

Jovan, I'm proud of you bud. Thank you for letting us be a part of your special day.  We couldn't be happier for you both. Bring on the wedding!!!!

Blankets, Hats & Little Red Noses

Blankets, Hats & Little Red Noses

With winter just around the corner, we had to hurry to get some adorable photos of these two little cuties before they started catching snowflakes instead of chasing leaves.  But don't worry, with all their energy, none of us were going to get too chilly!

We spent the afternoon frolicking in the what was left of the autumn leaves and trying to remember what is was like to be a spunky two-year-old and a seven month old with the whole world to explore.  We kept an armful of blankets close and traded hats for ponytails, but we got what we came for--a lot of precious moments of these two little ones!

We all know how fast the years fly, how quickly little ones grow, and how much we wish, just for a second, we could stop the clocks of time.  They only stay little for a little while, and before you know, just like the fall changes into winter, our little ones change into big ones.

We're glad we put on our stocking hats and joined these little ones for this fun photoshoot.   After all the twirling, leaf chasing, fishing finding, and smiling--we all slept well that night!  Thanks for letting us be a part of this fun afternoon and capture some of those precious little moments!

...That's what little boys are made of.

Snakes and snail and puppy dog tails?  Nope, that's not what little boys are made of.  It's all the kisses and hugs, that makes them full of love.

Sure, there's the messy faces and the stinky diapers.  There's the shrills of excitement and the cries of tiredness.  There's the glossy eyes at 2 am and the bags under my eyes which make me look like I'm packed up for a long trip.  There's the insane amount of dirty bottles, dirty spoons, dirty bowls, dirty little hands, and dirty little faces that result is even more dirty wash cloths.

Rebuilding

This is an exciting time for ash.tree.photo!  We have recommitted ourselves to portrait photography and are really stoked to get things going. Over the past couple years, we have been balancing several things at once: Working the quintessential full time job, growing our little family and of course, shooting photography every chance we get.  As the interest in our work has grown, so has our passion. We are hard at work trying to get all of the pieces of the puzzle put together so that we not only remain in the industry, but carve our names in it.  As we continue to grow the site and the business we will make sure we keep you posted on all the fun stuff ahead!
